The Ruins of Moorstedt

Greetings Terrain Makers and Miniature Gamers! // Seit gegrüßt Tabletop-Spieler und Gelände-Bauer!
``Moorstedt was a small town located in the marshland. A home for smugglers, raiders and a few other more or less good citizens. One day the gods seemed to be not well disposed and a horrible pest plagued Moorstedt. Everybody died! Since these days all buildings were marked by decay and sunk into the wet ground of the moor. It became a place of fright and angst. People say that living dead, demons and even more dangerous creatures are wandering around.´´

A new terrain project is partly finished! I like to present the first ruin of my modular set named ``The Ruins of Moorstedt´´. It has been a long way till this state and the journey will go on.

I want to give an overview about the building process. In future posts I want to go more into the details and show how I built this terrain and how to use the casts for modelling projects. So stay tuned.

Also dran bleiben!

I started by making lots of bricks using different techniques: Carving out of plaster & clay, cutting  & stamping foam and sculpting detail bricks from putty. I built molds to reproduce and started making the ruin parts using theses cast bricks.

Using all the cast bricks, natural stones, pebbles and modelling clay to bring everything together. Here are some of the ruin modules:

Time to decide how to split the wall segments and making molds. Cast and build and paint the proper terrain pieces. As mentioned, I will give you more details about the ``Ruins of Moorstedt´´ in future posts.
